our house.

Mum's lounge suite which is in the front lounge and known as the "white room"

I'm back..

I am back on track after the death of my mother, she was a wonderful lady and I will always miss her. But life has to go on and that's excatly how she would have wanted it.
We sold the family home and bought our own home in Cranbourne, I know mum would have loved it and would have picked out her own room.
I am lucky enough to have a designated sewing room, my horn cabinet is on one side of the room, I have a chest of drawers on the other side which hold patterns, and all the bits and pieces, in the built in wardrobe I have shelves for my books, and materials...
I want to thank my special friends..Jackie and Janita for their support and help since mum died, their friendship is greatly appreciated...thanks fellow Bitches !!..

Mother's Day

I Hope all you blogging mother's and all other Mothers had a lovely day yesterday. My DD gave me a lovely bunch of tulips, a music CD "divas" and Marley and Me DVD, I was definately a spoilt mum. But for me Mother's day is all about My Mum, without her I wouldn't be here today. Throughout my life she has guided me and shown me unconditional love, she was always there for me. I love you Mum..

This weekend my bitch N stitch friends and myself are going away to Philip Island, we are leaving tomorrow morning, (friday) and coming back Monday, our plans are to sew but those other 2 have decided unless I bring DH's quilt to finish I'm not going, so when I am picked up in the morning I'm sure "quilt Customs" will want to search my luggage to ensure I've packed it.
I will take my digy cam with me to Philip Island and get some pictures of us working hard...lol..we are staying in house that has a balcony which looks out over Smiths Beach, may even take a walk to the beach and get some piccies...that's if the quilt police let me out..

MAN OF THE HOUSE

I received this email the other day and just had to share it with you all.

The
husband had just finished reading a new book entitled, 'You Can Be
the Man of Your House.'
He stormed to his wife in the kitchen
and announced, 'From now on,
you need to know that I am the
man of this house and my word is law. You
will prepare me a
gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating
my meal,
you will serve me a sumptuous dessert. After dinner, you
are
going to go upstairs with me and we will have the kind of
sex that I want.

Afterwards,
you are going to draw me a bath so I can relax. You will
wash
my back and towel me dry and bring me my robe.
Then, you will
massage my feet and hands. Then tomorrow, guess
who's
going to dress me and comb my hair?
The
wife replied, 'The “F@#*&” funeral director would be my
first
guess.'

During the week I went into my blog and saw I'd received a comment, to my surprise I had received the this award from Julie in Tennesee. For me that was special award to receive, Julia and I have left comments on each other's blogs and in another blog there was a giveway and both julia and I had entered it, but she wrote that she would like give her "spot" to me, such kindness of someone to do that for a total stranger, so thankyou Julie for both the award and your kind words.

Quilt Show

Sunday 1st March, my friend Mandy (non blogger) and I went to Australian Quilt Convention at the Exhibition Buildings, I picked up a few bits and pieces but in all honesty there was nothing that really took my fancy, I think the Quilt show at Jeff's shed is so much better. But it was still nice to go there as it's a lovely old building both inside and out, and the museum is directly opposite.

Did the earth move for you.

Last Night Melbourne experienced a earth tremor, I was sitting bitchin stitchin, when I felt the house shake, my DD came out of her room and said that was a big gust of wind, but told her it was actually a Earth Tremor, you could feel it moving through the house, it was a weird experience I can tell you. The herald sun newspaper reported at being 4.6 which is quiet a moderate shake for us. I heard that we could experience after shocks today but are unlikely to feel them.
Did the earth move for you?

Sad Day

My thoughts go out to those that have lost loved ones, friends, neighbours and animals in these horrific fires that we have in Victoria, the sad part is some of these fires were deliberately light. Some of us complain about our plants and lawns that are dying in this heat, but there are so many who are now homeless wearing only the clothes on their backs, plants and lawns can be replaced so give a thought to those that have lost everything. Give thanks to those that have put their own lives in danger to protect our country. Such a sad day in Victoria's history.

SORWEEEE

I'm currently at work writing this post as someone over the holidays used up the total allowance of our broadband which has now put us on dialup speed which is slower than a turtle race meeting. Saturday 31st is billing day so hopefully I'll be back on broadband speed so I can update my blog.
Ok now all you Melbourneites out there I hope your gearing up for the horrific heat we're expecting this week, and most important look after your animals, clean fresh water daily, perhaps even a few bowls of water placed around the yard, I know when it's hot I place a plastic milk bottle of water which has been frozen in their bowls of water so it's stays cool most of the day. And if you've got one of those shell plastic pool/sandpits doovas it's a good idea to put some water in that too. If your lucky to be home bring your dogs/cats inside just so they can remain out of the heat.
I sound like Doctor Harry Don't I ?? Just remember if you had a fur coat on in 40+ degree heat how you would feel.
Bye bye for now.........stay cool !

Award

My Oh My Ohh My !!...I have just received my FIRST award, The Spirit of Christmas Award From Soozii. Thankyou Soozie. I shall do my best to honor this award.

The conditions associated with this award mean that I am to name 5 reasons why I love Christmas.
1. The Giving and Receiving of Presents, more so the giving than receiving, although I do love to receive "surplises", I am not one to give a present on a nominated day, but christmas is just one of those days when I can give to those that I hold dear to my heart.

2. Christmas eve My mother and Father would come over and stay until boxing day, now that my father is no longer with us My Mother continues the tradition. I love having her come and stay and doing everything I can to make her day special.

3. Sitting down at christmas dinner the conversation always turns to when we were kids and my mum always remembers what I'd like to forget..still it's a enjoyable day, filled with laughter, enourmous amounts of food, family come and going, phone calls, text messages and who could forget...DISHES !!!

4. A time to reflect on things I could have done better, on things I would like to do and try to achieve those things. Sometimes our lives get away from us and I often find myself thinking I wish I had done !!!! so this is a time when I can spend time with my mum and do things for her that I normally can't do when I am working during the week.

5. To relax after the big day and to hope that everybody enjoyed Christmas Day.

I would live to thank Soozii for nominating me for this special award, and in return I would like to give this to Jacki from Jackie's Jam session. Jackie has been my friend for many years and for nearly 2 years our friendship has blossomed into being "stitch N Bitch" friends.

Concert and Telstra Dome

Tonight my DD aged 21 and 11 months went along to Telstra dome for the Dance concert with a group of friends, this has been a concern for me all day as the media has hyped it up so much as the crowd is expected to exceed 40,000 with only 55 security guards. She phoned me about 11pm to wish me a happy new year and to tell me she loves me very much, I could hear the noise music in the background, she sounded excited and was having a ball. I still won't rest until I know she is safely tucked up in bed..when she eventually gets home as this concert finishes at 6am New Years day. I am sure she won't emerge from her bed until late in the afternoon. Do mothers ever stop worrying?

New Years Eve

Tonight we spent a lovely evening with my Stitching Friend Janita alias the "Talented One" and her Husband Mark, along with Marks Sister and her Husband. It was a very enjoyable evening. We had a lovely dinner of Beef and Chicken, Potatoes cooked in foil, coleslaw, and salad. Thankyou Nita for a lovely night.

Andre Rieu

Yesterday I sat down and watched Andre Rieu Australian Concert on DVD...I love it, this man is a entertainer. I would recomend this DVD to anyone, the backdrop was magical a real fairy tale. He shows passion in his music and you can see that every person involved in his performance throughly enjoy being there. I hear he will be back in Australia in 2009 I would love to go and see him.

New Year

On New Years Day and the whole year through,
I hope the kindness of others returns many time to you,
May hope, love, and warmth
be in your heart's possessing,
and may the New Year
bring you and yours
many blessings

The big day

This year I kept the table setting simple to keep room for all the serving dishes so everybody could help themselves to their meal. I made the little boots and in each was the cutlery wrapped in a serviette along with a small bon bon and a candy cane. The meal was lovely if I say so myself and I hope that body left the table feeling hungry. Each Christmas I try to make the day special for my Mum so I hope she enjoyed HER day. Lunch this year there was 6 of us...us 3, my mum and brother and my sister inlaw Glenys. Glenys is the wife of my brother that passed away, she is still family and each Christmas she is invited for lunch.
Boxing day my nephew Glenn his wife Deanne and their twin girls Charli and Jordyn came as did my Niece Kristy and her husband Craig with their beautiful little Girl Caitlyn. They usually try to call in on Christmas Day but it's just so difficult trying to spread themselves around so they came boxing day to see their grandmother.
Caitlyn is the sweetest little girl, a beautiful nature, I know if my brother was still alive he would be besotted with his 3 georgous grand dauthers.
Below is a picture of Caitlyn.

Off course I have to put a picture of my little cosgrove in his santa hat.

AAAACHOOOOOOOOOO

You wouldn't believe it that at this time of the year, I have caught a cold, or a cold has caught me. It all started Thursday, a nagging little tickle in the throat, thursday night the coughing fits started and continued, friday that tickle has gone but a gut wrenching, body aching, rib stabbing cough has taken it's place. Saturday morning feeling like a road train hit me and dragged me to Port Augusta and left me on the side of the road. But Hey I feel great !!. There's housework to be tackled, washing to be done, I have to wash my little dog as I'm sure he snuck out the gate during the day and found a muddy hole to play in, you see it's been raining for the last 24 hours, I'm not complaining as we need the rain but can't it rain during the night and the sun shine during the day, thursday night I put clothes on the line in hindesight I should have taken them of friday morning but nahhh it will be ok, oh oh oh..wrong move, they are now drenched and will have to go back into the LG to get rewashed so that means I'll have to go outside in the rain to get them off the line, prolly end up with pneumonia, as if there isn't enough washing to do without having to rewash clothes. But Hey it's great we've got rain. And to make matters worse my router still hasn't been installed so I still can't use my own computer, looks like all the pics I've taken will have to go on next years christmas blog.
Have a great day.

My Right Arm has been cut off !!

The power supply on the router has died, which means I am unable to use my own computer as I need the router to get wireless. I'm using the main computer which houses the modem to write this post but I can't upload any pictures that I've taken.
I tried to install the router but it needs configuring and my Computer guru is in hospital so until he's well I will be posting on this computer.

TIME SHARE

I know this has nothing to do with Christmas, but in a way it has. For sometime now I've been looking at buying Timeshare. A timeshare is a form of ownership or right to the use of a property, or the term used to describe such properties. Timeshare properties are typically resort condominium units, in which multiple parties hold rights to use the property, and each sharer is allotted a period of time (typically one week) in which they may use the property.[1] Timeshares may be on a part-ownership or lease/"right to use" basis, in which the sharer holds no claim to ownership of the property. Now that interest rates have come down I decided that now is the right time to look into it. I'm so excited that I've finally found the perfect place, lush green lawns, inground pool, playground and the accomodation is out of this world (literally). When I first made the inquiry I was told that if your looking for a place to relax where it's quiet then this would be the perfect place. Below is the photo of my time share.

A MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL.

More Christmas decorations Added

Musical christmas Tea Pot.

Nativity Scene and two little Gold Trees on the coffee table

A couple of funny Santa's

Santa tea light Holder.

Santa sitting beside a small tree.

Santa's on the side board.

Each year I like to decorate the Christmas Tree in a theme, pink/silver, red/gold this year I thought I'd go with Blue/Silver, but today I was asked "where is the red" so tonight when I looked at it I thought it needed some color, so not only did I add Red but also Gold. I would love to know what you think of my tree.
Normally I would have the tree in the lounge Room, but as we spend the majority of Christmas Day in the Dining Room I thought I'd put it there so it will be seen on the day.

Red, Blue and Gold - Lights off.

Blue and Silver Tree.

That's all there is for tonight, stay tuned for more Christmas 2008 Decorations at Come What May.

Christmas Pie

I remember when I was a little girl I would sit and watch Nana making pies just like the little girl in this picture. Nana would make all kinds of pies, meat, apple, apricot, even at Christmas Nana would bake her special Christmas Pies, I always wondered how she got those edges so neat but it was a secret that she took with her to her grave, and I've never been able to make perfect edges on pies like Nana used to. But then I came across this little story and her secret was revealed..To read how Nana did this click on the book to enlarge it.

Santa's photo

Well, here is the proof.
Santa must have been reading my blog as he just sent me a email along with his photo to prove that santa is truely a Male. Now do you believe me?

Santa is a MAN

For those of you that have been to Jackie's blog would have read 'SANTA HAS TO BE A WOMAN' then this is why I think Santa must be a man:
Santa Claus could never have been a woman!
Who else but a man would:
Be really generous once a year,
Be totally uninvolved the other 11 months,
(And 29 days, we’ll give him Christmas Eve & Day),
And yet think he was a saint?

One more reason Santa has to be a man:

No woman is going to wear the same outfit, year after year.

The talented One

In one of my previous posts I mentioned Janita, for this posting I will call her the "TALENTED ONE".
The Talented One has made this cake for her Local Scout group to have has a Christmas Raffle, the picture does not do it justice, all the decorations were made by the Talented One as was the cake which I assume is a fruit Cake.
Is it any wonder I call her the "Talented one".
