Stitch N Bitch

Best GraphicsTop Comments

JANITA

JACKIE

3 weeks out of every month myself and my friends get together on a friday night to stitch, takeing it in turns of going to each other's house's, we call it our "stitch N Bitch" night. Sometimes there is more bitchin than stitchin, but we can combine the both as well. It can end up a late night or a early night just depends on what we're doing or how we are feeling. Janita is the "talented" one, she makes and decorates cakes, sews, quilts, cooks, makes jewellery, makes amazing things out of polymer clay. She made and decorated my mother's 80th birthday cake....such a talented young lady

THANKS FOR BEING FRIENDS BITCHES

Merry Christmas

Tribute to my Brother.

April 2004 My eldest Brother Donald suddenly passed away at the young age of 54, he was just 7 months of retiring and had planned a cruise that he and his wife and friends were going on, sadly he never got to go nor did he live to see the births of his 3 beautiful grand daughters. Donald worked for Connex since he was 14 years of age, he was based at Epping in the maintenance workshop in a managerial position looking after over 300 men/woman, as a tribute to him they named a train in his honor.

My nephew Greg had been wanting to do a tribute to his dad and 2 weeks ago this is what he got, it was taken from the above photo which was published in the Dandenong Journal

I just couldn't believe how lifelike his tattoo is, I am so proud of you Greg and think it's a fantastic way of paying a tribute to your Dad, he not only lives on in your heart but is with you constantly.
I miss Donald very much and think of him every day, he was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father and was well respected by those that knew him. I could talk with him about anything knowing he would never judge but listen but if advise was required he would give it.
RIP my dear Brother xxxx

Out and About in Melbourne and Ballarat

Last Month I had 3 days off work to spend time with friends who came over From Adelaide

Day 1, 16th Oct - Plane arriving at 8.45am, left home at 7.30am drove to MelbourneAirport, from there we drove to Parkville where we were staying, caught a tram into Melbourne city and then another one to St.Kilda where we sat in the beautiful sunshine having lunch.

Day 2, 17th Oct - Drove to Ballarat which takes approx 1hour from Melbourne, we stayed the night at Doherty's Ballarat Lodge, we were completely in awe when we got into our room, you walk into a small entrance foyer, to the left was this magnificient room which had a king size bed, 2 king single beds, 2 large leather chairs, desk, coffee table, TV in an enclosed unit, the room was beautiful, to the right of the foyer was the bathroom, large double shower with seperate shower heads, a corner spa, heated towel rails, and off course the toilet. The hotel is set on 7 acres of land, below is a photo of the "secret Garden" which is part of the grounds.

Day 3 - 18th Oct - We got up, dressed and walked down to the hotel resturant for buffet breakfast, the food was amazing, fresh fruit platter, all different types of bread you could imagine which had just arrived from the bakery, eggs, bacon, sausages, muffins, pancakes...you name it , it was there...came back to our room organised our bags and left around 10.30am, we toured around Ballarat, went to the Botanical gardens, Lake Wendouree which sadly is dry due to the drought, I was stunned at the lack of water as it's a beautiful lake which had paddle steamers, rowing boats and families that would gather on the grass for picnics. Unfortunately non of these things happen these days which has taken a lot of people away from such a beautiful little city.

Day 4 - 19th Oct - We went to Melbourne Zoo, I cannot remember the last time I was there, there is so much to see and do and a lot of free activities for children. We spent quiet a few hours walking around looking at all the animals.

Day 4 - 20th Oct - After breakfast we got ourselves organised and caught a tram into the city, wandered around Myers, then caught a tram to Melbourne Museum, which is next to the Old Exhibition building in Carlton. For a small entrance fee you can spend all day wandering around the different exhibits and interactive areas.

After the museum it was time to take the tram back, collect our bags then on the freeway to Melbourne Airport, flight wasn't departing until 9pm so we had dinner, walked around the airport then sat for awhile until it was time to for Hugs and kisses and see you soon.

Back to work the next day, we had a great time as we always do when we are together, next it's my turn to visit in Adelaide.

I wish I were a teddy bear.....
the more worn out you get,
the more valuable you become

I asked my brother Paul if he could make me a quilt stand, this is what he came up with. He made it out of a old pallet, cut it, shaped and varnished it...don't you think I'm a lucky girl.?

And now for Quilting

I made this quilt for my Brother Paul, it was meant to be a gift for him Christmas 2007, but it's still not finished, all I have to do is the binding now, but it's one of those I'll get around to it...
Hand pieced, hand quilted. All the pictures depict parts of his life...
Oh and that's me peaking around the side.

In May 2006, My friend Jackie and I decided to take a class in Patchwork, so with some searching on Google we came across Lorraine who held classes, we decided to make a sampler quilt, mine was 9 patches and jackie made a queen size which was a giant task to take on for a first quilt, thinking she would be able to finish it in 5/6 months...17 months later it was finished, mind you she pieced and quilted the entire quilt by hand....well done Jackie !!
Mine was also pieced and hand quilted. I also gave this to my mother, but I'm sure she doesn't use it as she said it's too nice to be used.

Quilt as you go - 12" blocks, hand pieced and hand quilted.

This one I made for my Friend David in 2006, again hand pieced and machine quilted.

This was the first quilt I made, handpieced and machine quilted. It was made with 4" flanelette blocks and backed with Flanelette. I gave it to my mum for her 79th birthday in 2006. I must say at the time I was proud of my achievement but since then my patchwork/quilting has come a long way.

Sculptures on the Cliff

There is a scenic drive around the Coast of Elliston called Sculptures on the cliffs, these are amazing sculptures.

Photo's of our Elliston Trip

We did a lot of fishing mainly at Mt.Camel beach this is where I caught the my big Salmon. Over the 10 days we were there we would have caught 200 + salmon in the end it was "catch and release" as we had quiet a lot of fish.

Just a silly photo of my feet

The Lone Fishing Rod

This picture was taken at Locks well - Elliston. I just love how it has come out in Black and White, I call this "footsteps in the sand"

2. List 7 things about yourself. Some random, some weird.
3. Tag 3 more players and let them know.
4. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blogs.
OK here goes.....

1. I've been told I start too many things without finishing what I started - totally untrue
2. I like to eat weird food...toast, jam. peanut butter, baked beans and cheese on top then under the grill...........yummooooooooo

6. I'm a tidy freak
7. If I get a new pair of shoes that I totally love I might wear them to bed.
Now that I have started I could keep adding.
I am like a dog with a bone when I am trying to work something out I won't let it go until I can do it.
I am a bit of a gadget person.
Ask me to find something then the ferret comes out in me.
I like to have things matching
I don't like an untidy kitchen or dishes left in the sink.
I rarely leave my makeup off
I like my hair neat, unless it's messed up.
Is there any other color but white?
If I hate being late for something.

So now you know a little bit more about me...
I will now tag YOU !!!

Elliston South Australia.

In May I flew to Adelaide, from there we drove 641 kilometres west of Adelaide to a little seaside town on the Eyre Peninsula called Elliston. The wheat silo's in the background stand high above the township.
The date on the camera hadn't been changed.

My Dog

This is a picture of my little Boy "Cosgrove" in this picture he was 7 weeks old, he is maltese/shitzu with a little bit of poodle. He was and still is a little ball of white fluff, but in the summer I get him clipped as he gets too hot. He is a loving boy and loves nothing more than a cuddle, if your patting him and take your hand away he hits you for more...cheeky little boy !
